How WordPress works for Translation
The WordPress WPML plug-in for translation is our latest technology for the translation of WordPress websites into multiple languages.
You can export all your text into a translation package, which after translation is easily imported back into your WordPress site. The translation process is simplified, making it faster for you to enter new international markets.
Introduction to WordPress Plug-in for Translation
The plug-in stores translations in WordPress’s posts table as separate entries, utilizing the same data structure. It also creates its own tables in the WordPress database that allows it to:
- keep track of what page is a translation and which one is an original
- manage various aspects of the translation process (assigning users to the translation, keeping track of the translation status of a page)
For other aspects of your WordPress installation (theme and UI), you can use PO (.po) files to display translated content.
Modules
Our WordPress plug-in for translation is made up of several modules.
The WordPress plug-in for translation is the main module of the software and handles most of the additional tables that are added to the WordPress database, keeping track of what pages correspond to what other page and in which language.
The Translation Management plug-in allows you to assign and start translation jobs and then to export and reimport the translated text for external tools rather than having to work within the WordPress editor itself.
The WordPress String Translation plug-in allows the translation of UI elements and other plugins and themes that display text to the users.
The WordPress XLIFF plug-in allows the content to be exported and imported in the XLIFF format, which most translation tools can handle.
